Xperia 1 VI | Oscar Lindsey’s first impressions on photography

Hi, so my name is Oscar Lindsey and I am a Photographer and Videographer
based out of London here in the UK. So, typically when I'm out shooting, it will either be at night time in an urban
context or any sort of city environment, and a lot of what I do really involves
pushing cameras to their limits, testing them to truly see what they are
capable of, and what I can achieve. I love bringing my creative ideas to life, especially with just the tools
that I have with me in my pocket. So, I've actually been using the Xperia devices
since the Xperia 5 IV and the camera evolution since then is
something that impresses me time and time again. Each year Xperia is equipped
with tech that showcase Sony’s unique position as the sole developer
of both pro cameras and smartphones. But it’s not only that. Sony's unique AI technology
enhances the phone's overall experience, making it even more appealing to me
as a creator.

This time round the Xperia 1 VI
has become a true power house in terms of its focal length range. The fact that we have access to a 16mm, 24mm, 48mm and an 85-170mm optical zoom lens is just crazy and opens up so many
doors for us creators, meaning that we can create without limitation. So, what surprised me the most
about the Xperia 1 VI is its brand new Tele lens. With the 85-170mm optical zoom lens, the Xperia 1 VI offers images
free of digital degradation at each focal length
for both photo and video. With the unique variable periscope lens we can also shoot in insane detail
by using the Telephoto Macro mode where we can zoom into worlds
we never knew existed, making subjects stand out without
any distortion.

Also, the unique AI bokeh feature
allows us to take impressive portraits on the go with natural skin tones, and also, being able to control the level of bokeh can really help emphasise your subject
from its surroundings. Finally, the main 24mm lens is equipped with the Exmor-T for mobile sensor. So, when we combine this with AI processing, well it’s just a night photographer's dream. So, another super impressive feature
that I love is Sony’s unique AI technology, which comes straight from the Alpha cameras
and into Xperia. The reliability of the Real-time
Eye Auto Focus and the Real-time Tracking means I can solely focus
on the creative process and have faith that my images are always sharp. Human pose estimation technology, which was is also introduced to deservedly
hyped Alpha 9 III last year, has actually now been included on Xperia 1 VI, which means that I can always ensure
that my subjects are in-focus no matter the occasion. So, when I am sharing video of my Xperia 1 VI, one thing that always stands out
for me is the inclusion of S-Cinetone for mobile.

This is such a powerful feature
where Sony’s unique colour science enables creators like me
to capture such cinematic videos straight from hitting record. Also, not to mention the fact that
we can shoot at 4K 120fps, to slow down those moments
that are just too good to miss. Our creative possibilities
and range of expression here are endless. And this is all done with the device
that we have with us in our pockets..
